Yobe spends N111.2bn on roads, bridges
The administration of Yobe State Governor Ibrahim Gaidam spent N111,261,279,966.00 to construct 1,272 kilometres of roads and bridges.
The Commissioner for Works, Transport and Energy, Shettima Lawan Ali, disclosed this in Damaturu yesterday at the ministerial briefing to highlight Gaidam’s administration’s achievements.
“The leadership of our amiable governor has from 2007 to date constructed 1,272 km of roads as well as over 10 bridges, 342km, across the state at cost implication of N111,261,279,966.00,” he said.
He said the state executive council had in separate meetings awarded additional contracts for the construction of roads and drainage expected in four months.
He said: “The construction of roads and drainage in 3 general hospitals of Gaidam, Gashua and Potiskum awarded amount to N1,403,391,822.59; while the roads within Damaturu metropolis are at the cost of 7,703,788,747.77,”.
The commissioner said the government had also executed projects in rural electrification, fire service and the state’s transport cooperation.
