Buhari’s min­is­ter, Jib­ril, emerges Emir of Nasarawa

The Min­is­ter of State for En­vi­ron­ment, Ibrahim Us­man Jib­ril, has emerged as the new Emir of Nasarawa fol­low­ing his se­lec­tion by the Nasarawa Emi­rate Coun­cil and ap­proval by Gov­er­nor Umaru Al­makura.

The Com­mis­sioner for Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment and Chief­taincy Af­fairs, Haruna Osegba, yes­ter­day said Al­makura ap­proved Jubril’s se­lec­tion “fol­low­ing the meet­ing of the Nasarawa state tra­di­tional coun­cil of chiefs where the tra­di­tional Coun­cil rat­i­fied the se­lec­tions that were done by the var­i­ous king­mak­ers.”

He said the gov­er­nor ap­pre­ci­ated the high sense of ma­tu­rity dis­played by the king­mak­ers dur­ing the ex­er­cise and con­grat­u­lated the new emir.

The sec­re­tary of the emi­rate coun­cil, Idris Muham­mad Loko, did not dis­close the names of those that con­tested for the throne Emir of Lafia, say­ing “It is a fam­ily af­fair and that would be an­nounced later for his­tory’s sake and not to cause dishar­mony in the royal house.”

He called on the peo­ple to sup­port the new emir. mean­while, the state gov­ern­ment has also con­firmed the se­lec­tion of Mr Lawrence Sylvester Ayih as the new Abaga Toni of Toni King­dom.
