Buhari’s minister, Jibril, emerges Emir of Nasarawa
The Minister of State for Environment, Ibrahim Usman Jibril, has emerged as the new Emir of Nasarawa following his selection by the Nasarawa Emirate Council and approval by Governor Umaru Almakura.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Haruna Osegba, yesterday said Almakura approved Jubril’s selection “following the meeting of the Nasarawa state traditional council of chiefs where the traditional Council ratified the selections that were done by the various kingmakers.”
He said the governor appreciated the high sense of maturity displayed by the kingmakers during the exercise and congratulated the new emir.
The secretary of the emirate council, Idris Muhammad Loko, did not disclose the names of those that contested for the throne Emir of Lafia, saying “It is a family affair and that would be announced later for history’s sake and not to cause disharmony in the royal house.”
He called on the people to support the new emir. meanwhile, the state government has also confirmed the selection of Mr Lawrence Sylvester Ayih as the new Abaga Toni of Toni Kingdom.
