The Association of Skilled and Vocational Artisans of Nigeria (ASVAN) has lamented that their members who are the engine room of the economy are neglected by the Bank of Industry (BoI), and Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) in the disbursement of its various loan schemes across the country.

The National President of ASVAN, Comrade Everest Obijuru, who stated this during its trade summit in Abuja, said the federal government’s TraderMoni scheme through which traders could access loans of up to N10,000 at the first instance had not been extended to the artisans.

Obijuru berated the BoI over the mode of disbursing its various loan schemes that are designed to enhance the nation’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector.

According to him, “Bank of Industries BoI, you hear them all over in radio and television. This is a (ASVAN) platform that if actually they are doing what they say they are doing, a platform that has 11,036,000 members and none of our member has gotten BoI loan.’’
