2 stu­dents win NYPF writ­ing con­test

@Ba­masVic­to­ria Two stu­dents, Akinyelu Vic­tory Melody and Ishaya Blessed Micah have won the Nige­rian Young Pro­fes­sion­als Fo­rum (NYPF) easy writ­ing com­pe­ti­tion in­sti­tuted to mark the or­ga­ni­za­tion’s fifth year an­niver­sary.

Melody an SS3 stu­dent of Bap­tist High School Jos, Plateau State who came first got a full schol­ar­ship while Micah an SS2 stu­dent, the run­ner-up got part schol­ar­ship.

The Prize was pre­sented to her by a former Gov­er­nor of Kaduna State Ra­malan Yero, in Abuja, dur­ing NYPF award and din­ner night.

Also, sev­eral other Nige­ri­ans got awards for their con­tri­bu­tion to devel­op­ment of the so­ci­ety. Among the win­ners is Imam Ab­dul­lahi Abubakar, the 83-year-old Abubakar from Nghar Vil­lage, Gashish district in Barkin Ladi won award for shel­ter­ing al­most 300 per­sons in his mosque dur­ing a re­cent cri­sis in Plateau State.

Chair­man of NYPF, Moses Si­a­sia in his ad­dress said the fo­rum was do­ing all it can to safe­guard the fu­ture and destiny of Nige­ria which he said de­pended on the youths.

He said, “We have given out grants to about 35 young pro­fes­sion­als in ICT and the cre­ative in­dus­tries through the “YES” scheme, sup­ported by her­itage bank.

“We have also given out schol­ar­ships in the last three years to some stu­dents; one of them got her ad­mis­sion into the Univer­sity of Sur­rey in the UK, fully spon­sored by NYPF and she grad­u­ated with dis­tinc­tion,” Si­a­sia ex­plained.
