Mil­i­tant ‘king­pin’, 266 oth­ers ar­rested in Bayelsa

A sus­pected mil­i­tant king­pin, Gift Apollo aka “Thou­sand” has been ar­rested by the men of the Joint Mil­i­tary Task­force (JTF) known as “Op­er­a­tion Delta Safe”.

It was gath­ered that the sus­pect was re­spon­si­ble for the at­tack and death of sol­diers de­ployed to Abua/Oduma creeks be­tween Bayelsa and Rivers states.

The Act­ing Di­rec­tor of De­fence In­for­ma­tion, Bri­gadier-Gen­eral John Agim told jour­nal­ists yes­ter­day in Ye­nagoa that 266 per­sons have also been ar­rested for var­i­ous of­fences and handed over to ap­pro­pri­ate gov­ern­ment agen­cies for prose­cu­tion since the launched of “Op­er­a­tion 777” few weeks ago.

“Seven Nige­rian Agip Oil Com­pany main­te­nance work­ers kid­napped while car­ry­ing out an as­sess­ment of a blasted well head in Azuama in South­ern Ijaw lo­cal Gov­ern­ment in Bayelsa were re­cov­ered and re­leased un­harmed,” he added.
