Kano profession­als to partner with stakeholde­rs to fight drug abuse

The Kano Youth Organizati­on in Abuja (KAYOAB), had said it will partner with relevant stakeholde­rs to eradicate drug abuse and other social maladies ravaging the state. This resolution was reached in Abuja at the weekend during the civil society’s annual congress where it elected new executives that will pilot the affairs of the organizati­on in the next two years.

The new leaders have promised to ensure purposeful leadership towards uniting Kano people in the FCT as well as providing programmes that will better the lives of Kano youth, in particular, and the state in general.

The newly elected president, Balarabe Sarki Abdullahi, assured members of his commitment in working with all stakeholde­rs in ensuring Kano youth are not left behind, The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has described Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola as a man of integrity who the state is lucky to have as its helmsman.

The foremost traditiona­l ruler spoke at his palace yesterday when the governor paid him a thank-you visit.

Oba Adeyemi atended Oyetola’s inaugurati­on on November 27 in Osogbo, capital of the State of Osun.

The monarch said “Gboyega Oyetola is a man of integrity. He is a man of his words, humble, committed to good causes and highly tenacious. particular­ly in stamping the malice of drug abuse, unemployme­nt, political thuggery, among other social vices.

He also called on Kano youth to always be law abiding and shun any vices capable of affecting the developmen­t of the state.

Other elected executives are Barrister Bara’atu Aliyu (vice president), Fu’ad Kabir Maikaba (secretary-general), Halima Umar Na’abba ((assistant secretaryg­eneral), Aminu Dalhat (financial secretary), Dr. Abdulshahe­ed Sarki (assistant financial secretary.)

Others are Muhammad Mahe (treasurer), Sa’ed Umar Maigari (welfare officer), Bilkisu Muhammad Yakasai (assistant welfare officer), Alhassan A. Bala (public relations officer), Zulaiha Muhammad (assistant public relations officer), and Barrister Mujaheed Akilu Indabawa (legal adviser).

“He supported former Governor Rauf Aregbesola with his expertise and Aregbesola succeeded. I am praying to God to reward you with a good team, good health and better times that you might surpass your performanc­e with the last administra­tion.” The govermor was the Chie of Staff in the Aregbesola government.”

The governor thanked the royal father for his support and prayers, saying “I am delighted to be here today. Your support for me and is what I will always remember and appreciate. I assure you that we will make you proud.”
