Sultan leads prayer for late Emir of Lafia

The Sultan of Sokoto week­end in Lafia, Nasarawa State, led thou­sands of peo­ple in the third day prayer for the Late Emir of Lafia, Al­haji Isa Mustapha Ag­wai I.

The prayer was per­formed by the Chief Imam of Lafia, Sheik Dal­hatu.

Gover­nor Umaru Al­makura de­scribed the reign of late emir of as “the golden era in the his­tory of Lafia Emi­rate.”

“The revered late emir was the true pro­gen­i­tor and cor­ner­stone of mod­ern Lafia Emi­rate. Un­der the emir’s royal stew­ard­ship, Lafia wit­nessed its most out­stand­ing devel­op­ments. The death of the late Emir Ag­wai was a per­sonal loss, for I have lost a fa­ther, a teacher and a men­tor who has guided my ev­ery foot­step since I be­came gover­nor in 2011.”

In his con­do­lence, a close as­so­ci­ate of the late monarch, Al­haji Isyaku Ibrahim, de­scribed him as “a man of hon­our and charisma, and a na­tion­al­ist who pro­tected the Igbo dur­ing the civil war, en­hanced di­a­logue and shunned vi­o­lence through­out his reign as an emir, and a big brother to me.”
