Sultan leads prayer for late Emir of Lafia
The Sultan of Sokoto weekend in Lafia, Nasarawa State, led thousands of people in the third day prayer for the Late Emir of Lafia, Alhaji Isa Mustapha Agwai I.
The prayer was performed by the Chief Imam of Lafia, Sheik Dalhatu.
Governor Umaru Almakura described the reign of late emir of as “the golden era in the history of Lafia Emirate.”
“The revered late emir was the true progenitor and cornerstone of modern Lafia Emirate. Under the emir’s royal stewardship, Lafia witnessed its most outstanding developments. The death of the late Emir Agwai was a personal loss, for I have lost a father, a teacher and a mentor who has guided my every footstep since I became governor in 2011.”
In his condolence, a close associate of the late monarch, Alhaji Isyaku Ibrahim, described him as “a man of honour and charisma, and a nationalist who protected the Igbo during the civil war, enhanced dialogue and shunned violence throughout his reign as an emir, and a big brother to me.”
