Daily Trust - - INSIDE POLITICS - From Haruna Gimba Yaya, Gombe

Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo at the weekend flagged off the campaign of the APC gubernatorial candidate in Gombe State, Alhaji Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya.

Osinbajo, who led other APC stakeholders to the campaign rally in Kaltungo Local Government Area of the state, called on the electorate to vote for Yahaya and all other candidates fielded by the APC.

The vice president also called on Nigerians to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari to enable him consolidate on the gains of his first tenure.

He said Nigeria needed a man of Buhari’s impeccable qualities and character to preside over the country at this critical time.

“President Buhari is a trustworthy and honest man, I have worked with him and I can tell you that he is a man that means well for the country. This is the kind of leader that Nigeria needs at this moment,” he said.

While presenting the APC flag to Yahaya, Osinbajo urged the people of the state to vote for all APC candidates.

In his speech, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, said APC was a party for all Nigerians, regardless of their ethnic or religious affiliations.

He said that the people of the North East were grateful to Buhari for the improvement recorded in security in the sub-region.

Also speaking, the gubernatorial candidate, Yahaya, said the people of the state had pledged to vote for APC at all levels in the general elections.

Twenty-one prominent members of the PDP, including a serving senator from Gombe South, Barrister Joshua Lidani and three gubernatorial aspirants who defected to the APC, were received into the party at the event.
