Atiku/Obi campaign DG condemns election postponement
The Director-General, Atiku/ Obi Presidential Campaign in Kwara State, Dr. Ali Ahmad, has condemned the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to postpone the general elections, six hours to its commencement.
Ahmad, who described the development as sad, lamented that despite being provided with all it required, the electoral umpire failed to deliver when it mattered most.
In a statement issued by the campaign office, the party expressed dismay over the postponement, which it added, had become a ‘recurring decimal’ in Nigeria, and as such does not portray the country in good light before the comity of nations.
“It is regrettable that the elections have to be shifted for another week despite years of preparations by INEC.
“As for the INEC chairman, I think we should give him another chance. Let’s support him fully again to ensure he delivers on his commitment to free, fair and transparent elections,” Ahmad said.
He further enjoined members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as well as its supporters nationwide to bear the inconvenience and remain faithful to the party in their various localities, especially to the Atiku/Obi ticket.
Ahmad added that the unfortunate incident was an indication that Nigeria cannot move forward with the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a ruling party.
