IBB returns after 3-month medical vacation in Switzerlan­d

Former Military President General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida on Saturday returned to Nigeria after over three months of medical vacation in Switzerlan­d.

According to a statement by his media office, the former military president was received at the Minna Internatio­nal Airport by former Head of State General Abdulsalam Abubakar and family members at about 3:40 pm.

Babangida said he was much stronger and better, thanking Nigerians goodwill vacation.

Babangida had left Nigeria for medical vacation in the Europe on December 12, 2018.

“I am feeling stronger and better now. I must thank Nigerians immensely for the prayers and concerns over my health”, he said.

He enjoined Nigerians to continue to pray for the leaders and the country to move forward in positive direction, calling for unity and peaceful coexistenc­e among all irrespecti­ve of for their messages prayers and during his religion and ethnic affiliatio­ns.

“We should remain united and work collective­ly towards the progress of our nation by thinking positively about the leaders and providing constructi­ve criticisms and solutions to any challenge we may face,” he said.

He saluted Nigerians for keeping faith with the democratic process and coming out to exercise their constituti­onal rights of electing leaders of their choice, saying the general elections had further consolidat­ed democratic governance, freedom and security in the country.
