- From Peter Moses, Abeokuta

The Muslim community in Ogun State yesterday denied opposing the emergence of the governor - elect, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

The leader of the community, the Wakilu Muslimeen of Yorubaland , Edo and Delta states, Sheikh Iskil Lawal, told newsmen that the community remained apolitical and had no issue with the personality of who becomes the governor of the state..

According to him, the leadership of the community has been receiving calls from the people who were seeking to know whether it was against the emergence of Abiodun.

He said: “The community had been involved in the electoral process by holding special prayers for peaceful elections in the state.

“We are not opposed to the emergence of governor-elect, Dapo Abiodun. We are using this medium to congratulate him on his success at the poll. Our community is apolitical. We don’t dabble into politics, but, we are very much conscious and yearning for a good governance.

“We know that Allah crowns He who wishes and takes away crown from whoever He wishes .

“The emergence of Mr. Dapo Abiodun as the next governor is God’s design and no man can change that.”
