‘Private universities’ graduates exceed all expectations in workplace’
A psychology professor at the University of Ibadan, Benjamin Ehigie, has said his investigation and knowledge in recruitment exercises indicated that many fresh graduates from private universities work to achieve good results beyond expectations in their workplaces.
Speaking as the guest lecturer at the maiden matriculation lecture of Precious Cornerstone University, Ibadan, he said his experience in recruitment exercises for different corporate organizations showed that quality work displayed by graduates from private universities exceeded all expectations.
Prof Ehigie called on newly admitted students to acquire knowledge on selfconcept, self-esteem, self-image, selfefficacy and self-imagery as essential elements for achieving success.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Julius Oloke, noted that the need for private universities to provide quality education cannot be overemphasized, adding that many public universities are crowded, with inadequate facilities for proper training of the students.
According to him, students in private universities were not only smarter but they embraced challenges differently.
The Chancellor, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, said the dream to make the institution world-class would be ‘vigorously pursued’ and achieved in next to no time.
