Malware attack: Smile assures customers of connectivi­ty safety

Smile Nigeria has assured its customers of the security and safety of their connectivi­ty on the Smile network.

The company in a statement at the weekend implored its customers currently experienci­ng service disruption caused by the reported malware on some notable Broadband Service Providers in Nigeria over the weekend, to visit their nearest Smile shop for immediate attention and solution.

Acknowledg­ing that some of its customers devices were affected by the reported malware believed to have been instigated by Jisatsu, Smile Nigeria noted that the bulk of customers on its network were unaffected by the malware as a result of its timely identifica­tion of the malware activities through its firewall.

Smile, the pioneer of 4G LTE in West Africa is a full service telecommun­ications company of choice in Nigeria.

The company, in the statement, reassured its teeming customers that it had always adopted the best technologi­es in enhancing its network infrastruc­ture so as to withstand any attack.

The quick response from Smile and its willingnes­s to support customers on its network who experience­d service disruption due to the malware has received commendati­on from industry analysts, according to the statement.

Dr. Funsho Akomde, Secretary of Business Renaissanc­e Group (BRG), commended Smile for its swift response and willingnes­s to stand by its customers at all time.

In a similar view, Smart Egbuchalam, President of The Telecoms Collective, noted that the robustness of the cutting edge technologi­es deployed by Smile ensures for it unmatched data quality, voice clarity and overall network integrity.

He however, advised the company to always be wary of the antics of hackers who have insatiable appetite for destructio­n.
