- From Hassan Ibrahim, Kaduna

A 40-year-old mason, Musa Yashim, who resides in Sabo area in Kaduna, battling with a fracture on his thigh for over eight years, has appealed for N800,000 assistance for treatment at Dala Orthopaedic Hospital in Kano.

Yashim got the fracture after he was knocked down by a vehicle while driving on a motorcycle in Idon town along Kafanchan-Kaduna road in April 2011.

“On the day of the accident I was taken to a hospital by the woman who knocked me down and after treating the wounds later advised me to seek the services of local bone fixers for the treatment of my broken bone on assumption that local method heals faster but unfortunately it was not successful even after engaging several local fixers. I became tired in 2014 and decided to go to Dala Orthopaedic Hospital in Kano and after examination the charges they gave me remains a nightmare because I can’t afford to pay.”

Yashim told Arewa Trust that in 2014 Dala Orthopaedic Hospital charged him N240, 000 for the treatment but because he was unable to pay he returned to another local fixer hoping to get treated but was not successful.

“The charges continue to increase on annual basis. Last year I returned to the Dala hospital they charged N676,000 and now it has increased to N800,000 because of series of surgeries I have to undergo before the bone is fixed.

“I want appeal to governments especially federal and Kaduna state governments as well as other spirited individuals and groups to come to my aid and assist me with the fund for this treatment at the Dala Orthopedic Hospital in Kano.

“I want to be able to go back to work and take care of myself and my family. I don’t want to defend on anybody or become a begger.” to
