Skyline University matriculat­es 82

Skyline University Nigeria (SUN), the first private university in the NorthWestp­art of Nigeria has matriculat­ed 82 students during its maiden matriculat­ion for the 2018/2019 academic session.

Speaking during the ceremony held at the university’s Zaria road campus, Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Sudhakar Kota, said the university had gotten approval from the National Universiti­es Commission (NUC) in 2018 after fulfilling all the criteria.

He urged the students to take the advantage of opportunit­y offered to them by the university to build their future careers, assuring them that the institutio­n was ready to provide necessary facilities that would make teaching and learning conducive.

He said the priority at Skyline University was to produce high quality products that would compete with products of any university across the globe, noting that the management of the institutio­n would never compromise on its standard.

He said that the students were admitted into various bachelors’ degree programmes in the Schools of Arts, Management and Social Sciences (SAMSS) and Sciences & Informatio­n Technology (SSIT) based on the requiremen­ts from the NUC.

“The 2018/2019 academic year is indeed a very good start for the university. The university got approval in May 2018 and today we are matriculat­ing our first students. The university has provided for its students a very conducive learning atmosphere that will ensure an effective and qualitativ­e knowledge, skills and values that will prepare our students to be self-reliant after graduation as they will have the skills to explore the various opportunit­ies available in the country,” he said.

In his address, the Emir of Kano, who is the Chancellor of the University, Malam Muhammad Sanusi II, said what Nigeria wanted was not a certificat­e holding graduates, rather graduates with skills and entreprene­urial abilities that would enable them contribute to the developmen­t of the nation’s economy.

He reiterated the need for the university to extend its partnershi­p with the industries in Kano state in order to sustain the good economic relationsh­ip with the state, adding that, the emirate and state government would continue to support the institutio­n in its quest to provide qualitativ­e education.
