Skyline University matriculates 82
Skyline University Nigeria (SUN), the first private university in the NorthWestpart of Nigeria has matriculated 82 students during its maiden matriculation for the 2018/2019 academic session.
Speaking during the ceremony held at the university’s Zaria road campus, Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Sudhakar Kota, said the university had gotten approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) in 2018 after fulfilling all the criteria.
He urged the students to take the advantage of opportunity offered to them by the university to build their future careers, assuring them that the institution was ready to provide necessary facilities that would make teaching and learning conducive.
He said the priority at Skyline University was to produce high quality products that would compete with products of any university across the globe, noting that the management of the institution would never compromise on its standard.
He said that the students were admitted into various bachelors’ degree programmes in the Schools of Arts, Management and Social Sciences (SAMSS) and Sciences & Information Technology (SSIT) based on the requirements from the NUC.
“The 2018/2019 academic year is indeed a very good start for the university. The university got approval in May 2018 and today we are matriculating our first students. The university has provided for its students a very conducive learning atmosphere that will ensure an effective and qualitative knowledge, skills and values that will prepare our students to be self-reliant after graduation as they will have the skills to explore the various opportunities available in the country,” he said.
In his address, the Emir of Kano, who is the Chancellor of the University, Malam Muhammad Sanusi II, said what Nigeria wanted was not a certificate holding graduates, rather graduates with skills and entrepreneurial abilities that would enable them contribute to the development of the nation’s economy.
He reiterated the need for the university to extend its partnership with the industries in Kano state in order to sustain the good economic relationship with the state, adding that, the emirate and state government would continue to support the institution in its quest to provide qualitative education.
