Ganduje presents staff of office to new emirs

Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje yesterday presented the staff of office to the Emirs of Bichi and Karaye, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero and Alhaji Tafida Abubakar II respectively.

Ganduje is expected to present same to the Emirs of Gaya and Rano, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya and Dr Ibrahim Abubakar II respectively today.

Speaking in Bichi, Ganduje urged the new emirs to live in peace with their subjects.

“I urge you to promote peace and harmony among your subjects. I urge you to always interact with members of your council and advice government on anything that will improve the wellbeing of your people.

“I implore you to work hard in promoting education by ensuring that all school age child in your domain is enrol in school. I urge you to ensure that women are encouraged to always visit hospital when they are pregnant. You should also encourage your subject to pay attention to issue of farming,” Ganduje said.

In his acceptance speech, the Emir of Bichi, Aminu Ado Bayero, said he would work closely with the state government to improve the wellbeing of his subjects.

Bayero said: “It is not our wish to split Kano emirate into five emirates because our forefather have tried their best to maintain it as single emirate. Nevertheless, we will do our very best ensure that our subjects live in peace with one another.

“We will also play a significant role in the area of security by providing government with useful information about movements of people. We will ensure that every school-age-child in our domain is enrolled in school.”
