Babagana confident El-Kanemi Warriors will still pick playoff ticket
Despite their recent dip in form, the Chairman of Borno State Football Association, Alhaji Babagana Kalli is confident El-Kanemi Warriors will still qualify for the Nigeria Professional Football League Super 6.
The Warriors from Maiduguri were beaten 2-0 by their less industrious opponents Delta Force at home on Sunday which saw them dropping to third position in group B of the abridged league.
El-kanemi Warriors played behind closed doors following the penalty meted on them by the LMC as a result of the act of hooliganism that ensued the previous weekend after their 2-2 draw at home with Go Round FC.
Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday, the member of NFF Executive Committee said he was not completely surprised by the defeat suffered by El-kanemi Warriors in the hands of Delta Force.
He explained that the visiting team played with more determination and commitment.
“It was a painful loss considering that El-Kanemi Warriors want to play in the Super 6 and if possible win the league title.
“To be honest Delta Force appeared more prepared than El-kanemi Warriors. They played more aggressively so the result didn’t surprise me too much.
“However, it is not over for El-Kanemi Warriors. I believe they will still qualify for the Super 6. All they need do is to work on recent lapses,” he said.
The former Flying Eagles player also said El-kanemi Warriors will bounce back to winning ways at Abia warriors.
According to him, after last Sunday’s home loss, the team was addressed by the Commissioner of sports in the state, Hon, Abdulrahman Abdulkareem who urged the players and their officials to work harder in their remaining matches.
