Police arrest 2 over phone theft, bag snatching

The FCT police command has made two separate arrests of two men over phone theft and handbag snatching in two different locations in Abuja.

In one of the incidents, a 24 year-old man, Chris Ichechukwu, was arrested for allegedly stealing a hand set from a woman in Wuse 3.

A statement by the command’s spokesman, ASP Danjuma Tanimu Gajere, said the suspect was arrested at about 2:00 pm following a discreet investigat­ion by a team of police operatives from Wuse Division. He said the suspect was found in possession of phone that he stole from an apartment at Wuse Zone 3 on 13th March, 2019.

The suspect was arrested in Dunamis Church, Dutse Sokale, where he lives.

He said investigat­ion was still ongoing after which the suspect would be charged to court.

He added that the police also arrested a 20 year old man, Hassan Umar, for allegedly snatching a woman’s handbag.

According to him, the suspect was arrested by the police patrol team from Wuse Division, saying the suspect who operates around Wuse market, confessed to the crime and he was helping the police with investigat­ion.
