Ramadan: Community distributes clothing materials to orphans, widows
A community association, Abakwa Orphanage Foundation, has distributed clothing materials to 700 orphans and widows in the area in the spirit of the fasting season.
The orphans were also given food and household items.
Speaking during the distribution at the Abakwa Community Mosque, the Chairman Malam Abubakar Imam said 500 orphans and 200 widows benefited from the gesture.
“We are only trying to emulate our prophet, peace be upon him, who directed us to always assist the orphans. Anybody that assist, orphans will be rewarded in abundance by the Allah.
He lamented that the number of orphans is increasing not decreasing in the country as he urged other wealthy individuals to increase their assistance to less privileged.
The Foundation Secretary Aliyu Audu said the foundation also gave scholarship to many Orphans in the community.
