Attention, Aliko Dangote
Ipray you receive this message in good health, patriotic spirit embellished with the blessings of sacred month of Ramadan. When we started the construction of our Institute together with its Masjid a.k.a. Imo Grand Mosque in 1986 you were the pioneer financial. When the Masjid was completed and opened by the late Emir of Kano Alhaji Ado Bayero you were present. When we resolved to upgrade the Institute to a fullyfledged University in 2007 you were the first brother we contacted through Engineer Mustafa Bello the Executive Secretary/CEO of Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC).
In your reply dated 15th October 2009 your Excellency commended our effort and promised to assist. Permit me to state herein contents of your noble reply in the said letter: My Dear Brother, Engr. Mustafa Bellow, FNSE Re: Abdulaziz Islamic Institute; “I write to acknowledge your letter of October 5, 2009 in respect of the rehabilitation of the above Institute. It is indeed heart-warming to learn that the Islamic legacy sowed in 1992 to propagate the religion across the Niger is still yielding dividends and even more commendable is the fact that the trustees of the Institute have deemed it fit to rehabilitate and grow it to a University. The project is indeed a noble venture and deserves all the encouragement from well meaning Nigerians. Having played a part in the infrastructural development of the Institute in the past, I hope to continue to be a part of its success story. Consequently, I will send a consultant to assess the structures to enable me determine my level of support”. Thank you, yours sincerely, Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President/Chief Executive.
My dear Brother Aliko your Excellency, I must confess that on receipt of the above letter ten years ago we felt delighted and motivated with the hope that our vision to join in reducing the yearly back log of UTMEJAMB applicants now about 1.8million would soon been realized. Since then we have made countless reminders to you through letters and individuals without success. The reason may be due to your very busy business schedule within and outside Nigeria and this is why I am for the second time using this medium to remind your Excellency because about fifteen of our faith based institutional contemporaries whom we started the struggle with ten years ago have obtained provisional licenses from National University Commission.
You are a great and silent philanthropist and a supporter of education in Nigeria and Africa. Kindly use this period of the blessed month of Ramadan to redeem these ten years of promise so that we practically join the band wagon of faith based University operators in Nigeria.
Hayakum’LLAH Ta’ala!
