Yobe Stars promise to pull down Kano Pillars

- By David Ngobua

Although they are already relegated to the lower division, Yobe Desert Stars have warned that there will be no cheap points for Kano Pillars to pick in Damaturu in their midweek fixture on Thursday.

While Yobe Stars suffered a slim 0-1 loss at Akwa Ibom United last Sunday to finally confirm their relegation, Kano Pillars picked the maximum points in a 2-0 win at home against Go Round.

The victory over Go Round moved Kano Pillars to second position in the group and also brightened their chance of picking one of the playoff tickets.

For many people, there is nothing for Yobe Stars to play for but the captain of the relegated side, Moses Tsehuan has a different opinion.

In a chat with Daily Trust yesterday, the hard working defender said there is pride to play for in the week 20 fixture against Pillars.

He said Yobe Stars will make Pillars work for whatever result they want to get in Damaturu.

“I have to make it very clear that we are not going to allow Pillars walk away with the points three at stake.

“They will have to labour for victory. If they think they will just stroll into town and walk away with the points, they should better wake up.

“We have our names to protect so victory over Kano Pillars will gladden our hearts. They defeated us in the first round so this is the time for us to take back our pound of flesh,” he said.
