Bare United unperturbed despite losing out on promotion

- By David Ngobua

Bare United football club of Billiri in Gombe State have expressed readiness to keep fighting despite missing promotion to the National Amateur League Division one.

Despite winning two out of four matches played at the Kaduna Centre of the Division 2 playoff, the Amateur Division two side failed to gain promotion to Amateur League Division one.

The Secretary of the club Inde Umar told Daily Trust that the team lost the first two matches 2-4 to Fasbir FC of Katsina and 0-1 to Sharks FC Funtua before storming back to win their remaining two group matches.

He said they defeated KK FC of Niger State 2-0 in their third match and also beat another Niger State team, FC Bell by the same margin in their final group match.

The secretary said even as they failed to qualify for Division one, they are not discouraged.

He said they are going back to the drawing board in order to perform better next time.

“We missed promotion narrowly but we are not giving up. We did our best but it was not good enough. We are going back to prepare hard,” he said.

Umar, therefore, called on the authorities of Billiri Local Government to come to the aid of the club as he said the load is too much for only one person to carry.

“We are calling on our Local Government to give us financial assistance. At the moment, the sole financier of the club is our Chairman, Alhaji Alhassan Galadima.

“Football is capital intensive so he needs the help of government and other well meaning people of Gombe State,” he said.
