With the advent of digital cameras and readily accessible photo finishing software, it seems as though almost anyone can become a photographer.

Still, becoming a professional photographer requires a considerable level of skill, training, patience and creativity, a professional, Ajagba Kelechi Stephen has said.

Kelechi who started ‘Views of Kelz’ a little over a year ago said he initially learnt the basics of photography from an entrepreneurship class before getting more experience from YouTube and from photographers.

The 20 year-old graduate of Babcock University in Ogun State, said he started the business because he loves photography.

“And I also did not want to continue relying on my parents for money. I want to be fending for myself” he said.

The indigene of Abia State who started the business with

about N280,000 sourced by his father said the business is a lucrative one “but as a starting photographer I use most of my profit to buy equipment to create better photos”.

He also stated that his biggest challenge so far would be the search for more clients.

Kelechi who promotes his business using all the social media apps also said he incudes word of mouth and seeks referrals from clients when they patronise him.

He said the biggest lesson he has learnt during the course of his journey is patience.

“As a new entrepreneur I learnt this lesson as some months have not been as profitable as the others” he said.
