I’ll use my songs to mobilise youths for God — Mimi

- From Tony Adibe, Enugu

Enugu-based budding gospel singer, Mirian Ezeoka, fondly called ‘Mimi’ by her fans, has said her mission is to use her songs to mobilise youths for God and re-direct their energy and focus towards positive things.

In an interview with Daily Trust, she said that was better than the youths engaging in anti-social activities such as cultism, drug addiction, robbery and other vices.

Mimi also said her main reason for venturing into gospel music was to use her voice to glorify God for saving her life and restoring her health when stomach ulcer almost sent her to early an grave.

She recalled how she was admitted at the Eastern Nigeria Medical Centre, Enugu and her family members literally gave up hope on her survival, but God saved her.

“I love singing and I’ve been singing right from my infancy. Singing gives me joy. Even when I was in school; my friends knew my ability and interest in singing,” she noted.

Mimi, who hails from Anambra State, is an Accountancy graduate from the University of Nigeria. She said her first work entitled, “My Bestie,” was inspired by what she regards as being in oneness with God.

“Someone can be your bestie but once God is your bestie, I believe you lack nothing. In fact, allowing God to be your bestie is everlasting joy,” she noted.

Mimi also talks about her second song entitled, ‘I’m In Love with Jesus’, which she said, would be released on the label of JEFF Studio in Enugu.

“I want my songs to go round the world. I’m a graduate with BSc accountancy but that doesn’t stop me from being close to my God,” Mimi said.
