Ministry engages metallurgical experts on metal sector
The Ministry of Mines and Steel Development has engaged experts in the metal sector at the 2nd Nigerian Metallurgical Industry Stakeholders Forum in the Northwest zone to reposition the sector for economic development.

Olamilekan Adegbite said no nation in the world has survived by neglecting its metal sector.
Represented by his Special Assistant, Media, Mr. Ayo Adebayo, the minister said there is no going back on the resuscitation of the Ajaokuta Steel Company and other allied companies because the metal and steel sector remains the bedrock of the development of any nation.

Government recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Russian Federation as a bold step towards the resuscitation of the multibillion naira Ajaokuta Steel Rolling Mill, in Kogi State.
He noted that the government of President Muhammadu Buhari is committed to repositioning the mental and steel sector, saying “the Forum is timely considering the Federal Government’s current quest to diversify our monoproduct economy by deemphasizing dependence on Oil and Gas while focusing more on the nonoil sectors especially the Agricultural, Minerals and Metals sectors.”
He disclosed that his ministry has developed a roadmap and has articulated sustainable programs, strategies and activities for the development of the Metallurgical Sector with a view to taking it to the next level.
