COVID-19: FCT CAN chair tasks Nigerians on prayer

-

The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), FCT chapter, Rev. Dr. Samson Jonah, has stressed the need for all nations, particularly Nigeria, to pray and return to God to overcome the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Jonah, who is the Pastor in Charge of GoodNews ECWA, Maitaima, Abuja, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday and noted that all programmes of the association and the church had been postponed.

Consequently, the dedication of the NAN Chapel scheduled for Wednesday, March 25, by the FCT CAN chairman had also been postponed until further notice.

He said it was time for nations and people to return to God because “at a time like this it is only the help of God that can deliver.

“I believe that in no distant time

God will answer our prayers and our story will change and things return to normal. Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

he further said, “CAN urges churches in the country to strictly follow the guidelines for combating COVID-19 in all their gatherings, trusting God for victory over the plague.”

He urged churches in the FCT to follow worship guidelines issued by the association in order to check the spread of COVID-19.

The chairman further said in line with the ban on public gatherings by the government and directives from the CAN, all churches were to use house-based cell or online services.

Jonah also advised that where possible, particularly for churches with large gatherings without online system, they should break their services into shifts of not more than 50 worshippers in a shift. (NAN)
