Benue coy supports fight against COVID-19
...distributes 3500 face masks to ‘Okada’ riders, others
The Chief Executive Officer of Tito group of companies, Chief Asiwaju Isaac Akinkunmi, owner of popular Titogate eatery in Benue State, has distributed 3,500 face masks to commercial motorcyclists and traders to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking at the event in Makurdi Akinkunmi stressed the need for all hands to be on deck to slow down the killer disease in the country.
He commended the state government for the measures so far taken to curb the spread of the virus and called on those rendering public services to adhere to safety procedures as directed by health
authorities.
He, however advocated for a simultaneous total lockdown of the country, rather than just in some states, to prevent the spread of the virus.
“Let the country be lockdown at the same time because the ban on inter-state travels is not working,” he said.
He, however, appealed to the state government to lift the ban on markets closure, which he said had forced traders to display their wares on the streets thereby causing congestion.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, a GSM trader, Peter, thanked Akinkunmi for always standing up to the need of his host communities.
