NGO donates isolation centre, medical items to Niger gov’t

An NGO, Kere Ahmed Foundation (KAF), has donated an isolation centre and N4 million worth of protective medical gears to support the Niger State Government’s fight against COVID-19.

The donation came following the government’s call for support to deal with the pandemic.

The foundation was represente­d by MD of Zuma FM, Mr. Tanimu Kere Ahmed, and Mr.

Shuaibu Kere Ahmed during the handing over of the items.

The centre, according to the representa­tive of the foundation has five wards with 25 beds and an isolation and quarantine section to help curb the spread of COVID-19. It is located at the Umar Sanda Ndayako Hospital, Bida, Niger State.

Mr. Tanimu Kere Ahmed, said the centre, built with support of developmen­t partners, was to safeguard the lives of the people at the grassroots.

“The foundation had earlier acquired N4m worth of protective medical gears and handed them over to the Commission­er for Health, Dr. Muhammed Makusidi.

“The equipment include protective suits, 800 pieces of masks, 1,000 protective gloves and hand sanitiser.”

The commission­er, while accepting the donation on behalf of the state government, thanked the foundation for its contributi­on to the fight against COVID-19.
