C’ttee urges Anambra community to locate missing police Officer
An enlarged Peace Committee set up by Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, to look into the communal clash between Odekpe and Allah Communities has urged Odekpe Community, Anambra West Local Government Area, to locate the whereabouts of the Police Officer, ASP Akor Udeh, who was missing in the community while trying to restore peace in the area.
The committee gave the advice yesterday when its members visited the two warring communities on a fact-finding mission.
According to a statement issued by Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, SP Haruna Mohammed, yesterday night, the committee members were made up of various stakeholders, including traditional rulers, government representatives, and security officials.
He said the committee was interested in knowing the current fate of the police officer, and would want the community to locate him.
The committee had, during the visit, also urged the two warring communities to maintain peace and refrain from further hostilities that could lead to losses of lives and destruction of property.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, John Abang, has advised indigenes of the state to always seek legal means towards resolving crises in the communities.
He also disclosed that normalcy has been restored in the affected areas and joint security teams are on ground patrolling the communities to forestall further breakdown of law and order, while an investigation is ongoing to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.
