Zulum distributes food items to 80,000 IDPs from 5 LGAs
Despite gunshots directed at his entourage in Baga last Wednesday, Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, the following day, continued his humanitarian activities in Monguno where he distributed food items to over 80,000 internally displaced persons.
The IDPs were from villages attacked by Boko Haram in parts of Monguno,
Kukawa, Nganzai, Guzamala and Marte, all in the shores of Lake Chad in Northern Borno.
Zulum had left Maiduguri for Monguno on Monday on a three-day humanitarian tour of the northern part of the state.
Thousands of bags of food grains and cartons of cooking oil were distributed to the IDPs and vulnerable households in the host community of Monguno.
Male households received bags of grain and cooking oil; while females received cash amount of 5,000 naira each.
In another development, Governor Zulum was commended by the Sector 3 Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Brigadier-General I. Garba.
The governor had visited the military headquarters to support the soldiers fighting the insurgency. He was at Nasara
Barracks, Monguno.
Before leaving Monguno to Maiduguri, Zulum inspected ongoing projects including the High Islamic Secondary School, 1000 resettlement housing units and a mega primary school.
While at the building and the High Islamic School project sites, Zulum charged the contractors to maintain quality of work.
