NDE trains 100 youths in Nasarawa
The National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Nasarawa State has commenced the training of 100 youths on modern techniques of crop and livestock production.
Alhaji Dauda Idris -Wase, the State Coordinator of the agency made this known on the occasion of an orientation exercise for 100 new participants of NDE Sustainable Agricultural Development
Training Scheme (SADTS) in Lafia.
Alhaji Dauda Idris -Wase, “The Scheme is implemented in two phases. The first phase is a twoweek intensive theory classes for the beneficiaries and the second is the establishment and maintenance of two model demonstration farms.
He said the duration of the programme is three months and meant to educate the new beneficiaries on the modern techniques of crop and livestock
production.
“It is designed to improve agricultural yields for the country and more profitable income for farmers.
“One for crop production or market gardening and the second for livestock production or poultry farm in the remaining training period,” he said.
He called on all the participants to give all the necessary cooperation, attention and seriousness the programme deserves in their interest and for the overall development of the state and the country at large.
Dr Yahaya Maikeffi, the Provost, College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Lafia, who was the Chairman of the Occasion was represented by the College’s Director of Consultancy Service, Dr Vincent Aya, also urged the beneficiaries to be serious with the training in order to justify the huge investment of the government on the scheme.
Kure Ibrahim, Mrs Ebere Obonna, beneficiaries,who spoke on behalf of others, thanked NDE for the gesture and promised to take the training with all seriousness.
