NDE trains 1,150 youths on vocational skills in Kaduna
The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has commenced the training of 1,150 youths and women, selected across the 23 local government areas of Kaduna State on vocational skills.
Speaking at the flag-off and orientation of Basic National Open Apprenticeship Scheme (BNOAS) and Special BNOAS Training in Kaduna, the NDE Director General, Dr. Nasiru Ladan Mohammed Argungu, tasked the beneficiaries to take the training seriously.
Represented by Alhaji Shittu Mohammed, the DG said the programme, which should have commenced three months ago, was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, stressing that the participants were selected out of thousands that had applied.
Earlier, the state NDE Coordinator, Sani Maiwada, said the training was in partnership with office of the Minister of Finance, Budget and Planning, Hajiya Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed, adding that the aim was to help eradicate poverty among the teeming youths.
“The duration of the training is three months, and 50 youths and women have been selected from each of the 23 LGAs in the state, making a total of 1,150, and they would be trained on various vocational skills which remain the only option for the unemployed youths,” he said.
Acciording to him, the beneficiaries would be given monthly stipends with the hope that at the end of the training, they would equally become employers of labour.
The representative of the Minister of Finance, Budget and Planning, Rahmatu Mu’azu, commended the NDE for their support and partnership.
