Philanthro­pist builds, donates primary school to community

Aphilanthr­opist, Zeina Ahmad Ammar, has built and donated a primary school to Tudun Rubudi community in Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State.

The school, named in honour of her late uncle, Roda Jawad Roda, has eight fully furnished classrooms, a staff room and a headmaster’s office, six toilets and a borehole.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Zeina, who was represente­d by her sister, Hajiya Laila Jawad Roda, said the gesture was borne out of her desire to immortalis­e her uncle and support communitie­s through educationa­l pursuit.

Zeina also announced plans to build a junior secondary school and a mosque for the community following another request by the people, and added that her family was very proud to be associated with the project.

She further said, “We shall not relent in supporting and advancing frontiers of developmen­t of the people.’’

The Education Secretary of the council, Yahaya Muktari, commended the donor for the gesture, assuring her of government’s readiness to continue to partner with her more.

He said the state governor would be very pleased with such support and called on others to support the government’s free and compulsory education policy to further advance the frontiers of education in the state.

Adamu Ahmad, said hitherto over 1,000 students were studying under deplorable conditions, adding that the new structure would now boost students’ morale.
