- From Romoke W. Ahmad, Minna

Chairmen of two Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Niger State have reportedly turned the venue of their zonal meeting in Kaduna to a boxing arena as they engage in physical combat to the disbelief of their colleagues.

The fight, according to a source at the venue, was between the chairmen of two neighboring LGAs of Gurara and Suleja, Mr Yussuf Wali Gwamna and, Alhaji Abdullahi Maji respectively.

The source said Suleja LGA chairman, who had bruises on his face, was rushed to a nearby private hospital for treatment.

According to an eyewitness who narrated how the incident happened to an official of the government in Minna on Tuesday, trouble started when the zonal meeting decided to send a delegation to Zaria to condole the emirate over the death of the Emir of Zauzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris.

It was learnt that the meeting requested for two delegates from Niger, one of who should be the Chairman of the Association of Local

Government of

(ALGON) in the state.

It was said that the Suleja council chairman introduced himself as the chairman of ALGON, a position that was immediately countered by his Gurara counterpart.

“The embarrassment is too much. How can they disgrace our state like that in another state,” the source told our correspondent in the presence of a high ranking government
