The school teacher and students abducted by gunmen at Damba-Kasaya in Chikun LGA of Kaduna State have regained their freedom.

Daily Trust gathered that they returned home on Saturday around 8pm after an undisclosed amount of money was paid as ransom to their abductors.

The teacher, Christian Madugu and her students, Happy Waziri, Ezra Bako, Miracle Danjuma and Favour Danjuma, all teenagers, were abducted at Prince Academy School located in the village.

Confirming their release, a youth leader in the area, Akila Luka Barde, said they returned home around 8pm on Saturday.

“Money was paid to get them released but I can't tell you the amount," he said.

Daily Trust reported how in September the gunmen stormed the small community around 8:30 am and abducted the teacher and students while revising their books in preparation for the Junior School Examination.

One Benjamin Auta was shot dead by the gunmen during the attack.
