Man docked over N8.5m in Osun

The Osun State Police Command, yesterday, arraigned a 50-year-old man, Afolabi Oyekanmi, at the Magistrate­s’ Court in Osogbo, the state capital, for allegedly defrauding the Omoluabi Mortgage Bank to the tune of N8,500,000.

The police prosecutor, Abdullahi Musa, told the court that the accused committed the offence at the bank in December, 2017, at Gbodofon area, Osogbo.

He told the court that the offence was contrary to and punishable under Sections 419 A and 118 of the Criminal Code; Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State, Nigeria, 2002.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge, and his counsel, D.D Awoyemi, sought his bail.

The Magistrate, Adijat Oloyade, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N5,000,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to Monday, November 8, 2020.
