Man, 28, docked over burglary, theft

A 28-year-old man, Monday Godday, has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate­s’ Court over alleged burglary and stealing.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Caleb Leramo, informed the court yesterday that the defendant committed the offence on October 7, 2020 at about 4:10 a.m at Abuja Quarters Zone 4, along NTA road in Ado-Ekiti.

Bello Tolulope during the operation.

Leramo listed items allegedly stolen by the defendant to include a Xio Samsung phone valued at N350,000, X Spark 4 phone valued N51,500 and I phone 7plus valued at N135,000.

Others are, I phone 6X valued at N600,000 and Infinix Hot 6 pro valued at N48,000, properties of the complainan­t.

The prosecutor added that the defendant also had in his possession, wraps of Indian hemp.

According to him, the offences contravene­d

Section 411 (1) (2), 390 of the Criminal Code and Section 5 (b) of the Indian Hemp Act Cap 16, Laws of Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

The police prosecutor asked the court for adjournmen­t to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses while the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abdulhamid Lawal, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Lawal later adjourned the case until November 4, 2020, for hearing.
