Tor Tiv seek Benue support to lead Nigeria's Christian traditional rulers
The paramount ruler of Tiv nation worldwide, Professor James Ayatse, has urged the government and people of Benue State to support him to lead the Association of Christian Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (AOCTRON) to greater heights.
Ayatse, who emerged the head of AOCTRON a week ago, noted that the challenges ahead were enormous and therefore solicited the cooperation of people in the state in order to succeed in his new assignment.
The monarch spoke during a reception organised in Makurdi on his behalf by the state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in collaboration with the traditional rulers in the state to celebrate his elevation as president of AOCTRON.
"I seek support from the strong Christian community in the state and the government to help me deliver my responsibility," Ayatse said.
Governor Samuel Ortom assured the
Tor Tiv that God will provide him with all the necessary support required to carry out his assignment, adding that the Tiv and Idoma traditional council as well as the government will back him up to succeed.
Ortom who applauded the Christian monarchs in the country for selecting the Tor Tiv, stressed that he was not in doubt of the capability of the royal father to effectively lead the association as he had adequately distinguished himself in all positions of trust held in the past.
