Ogun Police Command says it has arrested a 19-year-old Babatunde Idris for allegedly killing an automobile mechanic, Salaudeen Lawal, in Igbesa, Ado - Odo / Ota Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect, popularly known as "Bobo", was arrested barely 20 hours after he was declared wanted by the police.

It was gathered that the deceased who was called to fix a vehicle that developed a mechanical fault was accused by Bobo and his colleagues of obstructing the road with the vehicle he was repairing.

This, it was further learnt, snowballed into an altercation between the parties. In the process, Bobo allegedly broke a bottle and stabbed the deceased on his hand, and cut one of the veins. The mechanic later died at a medical facility where he was receiving treatment.

However, the 19-year-old suspect, shortly after he was declared wanted, was traced to his hideout in Surulere, Lagos State, by detectives led by the DPO Igbesa division, SP Abayomi Adeniji.

The spokesman of the Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Tuesday, said following the Commissioner of Police, Edward A. Ajogun’s matching order, the DPO and his detectives embarked on an investigation which led them to Surulere where he was arrested.
