Group kicks against Runsewe’s reappointment as NCAC DG

The evicted shop owners at the Arts and Craft Village in Abuja have kicked against the reappointment of Otunba Segun Runsewe as the Director General (DG) of the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC).

A presidential statement released last Friday announced Runsewe’s reappointment by President Muhammadu Buhari for another term of four years.

One of the occupants who spoke on behalf of the others told our reporter yesterday that the NCAC DG’s reappointment was against the rule of law as he was convicted and jailed for contempt by the Abuja High Court in Maitama over abuse of office and disregard to court orders.

He also said there was an ongoing suit against Runsewe alongside the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) over its developed property pulled down at the Abuja Arts and Craft Village by Runsewe.

He explained that, “Runsuwe is supposed to be in jail until he complies with the specific court order of opening the village and maintaining the status quo until the determination of the suit as there was no any court order that vacated the judgement.

“Is the federal government telling the world that disobedience of court orders is now a norm?”
