Reverse varsity fees hike now, Ashiru tells El-Rufai

Kaduna State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019, Isa Ashiru, has called on Governor Nasir el-Rufai to immediately reverse the recent hike in tuition fees of Kaduna State University (KASU), saying it would negatively affect education in the state.

He described the increment as a complete denial of the people’s right to education as guaranteed by the country’s constitution.

Ashiru, in a statement, said the university was established during the PDP administration in 2004 to provide the people of the state with the ample opportunity to acquire university education at affordable fees.

“It is on the basis of this fact that I am making the call for the reversal of the tuition fees so that all the qualified young men and women of Kaduna State and other Nigerians can continue to benefit from the numerous academic programmes of the

university and the other tertiary institutions of the state government,” he said.
