Ekiti NSCDC parades 11 over rape, theft, others

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ekiti State command, has paraded 11 suspects over rape, stealing, burglary, cyber bullying and conspiracy.

The state Commandant of NSCDC, Mr Solomon Iyamu, said the command deployed its personnel to the nooks and crannies of the state and that the operation led to the arrest of some suspects.

According to him, Friday Manpol (25) and John Dashir, both from Plateau State; and Monday Goma (30) were arrested in Ado-Ekiti after they broke into a supermarke­t and stole bags of rice and other items.

He further said Aladegoroy­e Michael (35), Abubakar Musa (20), Imuraina Haruna (20), Zaiyaru Usman (25), and Mustapha Abdulahi (25) were arrested in Emure-Ekiti for conspiracy and theft of six split air conditione­rs belonging to a bank.

A female suspect, Ahmed Muibat (20), was also arrested in Ado-Ekiti over possession of a substance suspected to be cannabis sativa and assault.

The NSCDC boss added that Olusegun Olasunkanm­i (21) was arrested around Adebayo in Ado-Ekiti over cyber stalking and having carnal knowledge of a minor and taking her nude pictures and sending to his friends. During the parade, one Ogundare Micheal (58) popularly called Awonjo was also accused of rape and food poisoning.

The suspect was believed to have forcefully penetrated the victim through her anus and fed her with poisoned food which made her unconsciou­s and incapacita­ted.

Iyamu explained that investigat­ions were ongoing in all the cases and that all the suspects would be charged to court soon.
