Divorce-seeking wife offers to refund N140, 000 dowry to husband

A divorce-seeking wife, Zainab Usman, yesterday, urged a Grade 1 Area Court sitting in Gwagwalada, FCT, to dissolve her one-year-old marriage to her husband, Buhari Yau, adding that she was ready to refund a sum of N140,000 paid as dowry by her husband.

Mrs Usman, who resides in Paikon-Kore community in Gwagwalada area council, had, in a complaint letter, told the court that she was no longer interested in the marriage with her estranged husband, due to lack of love between them.

The estranged husband, Buhari Yau, of Anguwar Leleyi, who was in court, urged the court to dispense the case as demanded by his estranged wife, adding that the court should order his wife to refund the sum of N140,000 he paid as her bride price.

The presiding judge, Isah Adamu, after listening to both parties, dissolved the marriage upon refunding N140,000 to the respondent as khul divorce.

He ordered the complainant to observe three menstrual periods.
