LASU governing council urged to speed up VC appointment

-

The newly reconstituted Governing Council of the Lagos State University (LASU) under the chairmanship of a veteran accountant, Sir David Olabanji Sunmoni, has been asked to immediately activate the process for the appointment of a new substantive Vice Chancellor (VC) for the institution.

LASU had since the expiration of the tenure of the immediate past VC, Professor Olanrewaju Fagbohun, in January, 2021, been without a substantive vice chancellor as all effort to get one failed.

A special visitation panel set up by Governor Babajide SanwoOlu

to look into issues delaying the appointment of the ninth VC recommended the dissolution of the previous governing council to allow for a smooth process of appointing a substantive VC.

The Prof Bamitale Omoleled panel also counselled the governor to order a fresh selection process for the substantive VC.
