3 Yobe indigenes win Quranic recitation competitio­n in Kenya

Three indigenes of Yobe State emerged victorious at the African Quranic Recitation Competitio­n held in Kenya recently.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the winners, Mohammad Abdullahi, Sadiq Ibrahim and Aisha Abdulmutal­ib, came first each in different categories of the competitio­n.

“I am actually inspired by competitio­n in Kenya was organised by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and that the winners were part of the 10 Nigerian representa­tives in the competitio­n.

He said by this feat, the winners had qualified to participat­e in the upcoming global Quranic recitation competitio­n at a later date in Dubai.

Shettima dedicated the victory to the Mala-Buni administra­tion for its numerous and sustainabl­e the way technology is always changing how things work in both developed and developing countries. Down here we are battling with the mindset that inventing new technology or idea is only a white man’s job, but let me tell you, even the wrist watches and some of the gadgets we use are being invented by children in the Western world.

“So I believe if we can read science in our schools, we should be able to produce meaningful projects that could change our lives.

“We have many young inventors who can develop solar, mechanical and electrical gadgets that Nigeria may use to generate more revenue support to Quranic education.

Governor Buni, at a symbolic presentati­on of certificat­es to the winners in Damaturu, said they had made the state and Nigeria proud.

“Not only did they acquire the certificat­es, the recitation made by them were adjudged to be the exact recitation revealed to Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) right from inception,” he said.

Dagona has establishe­d his own science foundation and is currently working along with seven engineers on a new project. He has also participat­ed in a young inventor’s contest where he showcased a proposed mini spying car.

He holds National Certificat­e in Education (NCE) in Chemistry from Umar Suleiman College of Education, Gashua, Bade Local Government Area of Yobe State.

“Since the Kanem Borno Empire, Yobe had been one of the renown centres of learning.

“The headquater­s of Kanem Borno Empire was in Birnin Gazargamu, now in Yunusari Local Government Area, therefore, the history of Yobe and Islam in Nigeria are inseparabl­e.”
