Warring youths sue for peace

The youths of the two communitie­s spoke in the presence of their traditiona­l rulers at a peace meeting held at the council headquarte­rs of Anambra East Local Government.

The spokesman for the youths, Mr Echidiegwu Ginikanwa said that the two communitie­s have resolved not to fight again. He described the communal clashes in the area as senseless that should have been avoided.

“The war is senseless and uncalled for and some people who do not want peace in our land have been profiting from it in order for it not to end. We the youths of the two communitie­s have resolved to put an end to this senseless war and we are making our official presentati­on before the traditiona­l rulers of Anambra East Local

Government Area,” he said.

The member representi­ng Anambra East and West at the House of Representa­tives, Chief Chinedu Obidigwe commended the youths for resolving the crisis that has defied solution over the years.

It was learnt that the youths from the two communitie­s would be holding a peace rally before the end of this month. The Governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano is from Aguleri.
