Royal Family faults nomination of candidate for Akirun stool

-

The leadership of Gboleru Ruling Family of Ikirun in Osun State yesterday faulted the nomination of Prince Tajudeen Adesegun as the next Akirun of Ikirun.

The head of the family, Prince Bakare Olaniyan said one of the elders in the family, Prince Gboyega Olatunji made the nomination without consulting other family members.

Olaniyan said 10 princes from the family who are qualified to contest for the stool have indicated interest and that the nomination of Adesegun as the sole candidate cannot stand.

Also, the Yeyemeso of Ikirun, Chief (Mrs) Wosilat Tinuke Macarthy who hails from Gboleru Ruling Family said there was no meeting where the family agreed on any candidate and insisted that due process would be followed in the selection process.

The Akirun stool which is among the first class traditional rulers in the state became vacant after the death of Oba Rauf Olayiwola Adedeji in February.
