NEDC builds schools in Adamawa

- By Amina Abdullahi, Yola

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) at the weekend inspected the primary schools it is building at communities in 21 local government areas of Adamawa State.

Executive Director, Operations, NEDC, Maiwada Omar Ishaka, said the inspection was to ascertain whether or not the structures were fit for studying.

“Most of the projects in Adamawa Atate have to do with building of classrooms and so far, what we have seen is satisfactory. There are few amendments that need to be done to some of the sites, but generally, we’ve performed very well.”

Meanwhile, NEDC Managing Director, Mohammed Alkali, said the commission had provided three trucks of relief materials to Dabna community recently attacked by insurgents.

The district head of Dugwaba, Simon Yakubu, thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for the quick intervention.

Yakubu said the community was prone to insurgents’ attacks due to its proximity to the Sambisa Forest.

He called for establishment of a military base, upgrade of the police outpost and support for the vigilante.
