One killed as trailers, revenue collectors clash in Anambra

One person has been killed in a clash between truck drivers and revenue collectors in Anambra State.

The incident happened in Ogidi town, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state along Onitsha-Enugu Expressway on Tuesday.

It was gathered that trouble started at about 6:30 am when a truck driver was stopped by a revenue collector and an argument ensued.

The brawl escalated, resulting in the use of lethal weapons. A truck driver was killed in the clash.

The truck drivers blocked the Onitsha-Awka-Enugu expressway to protest the death of their colleague.

Confirming the incident, Anambra Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, said calm has been restored to the area while investigat­ion was ongoing.
