‘33 killed, 215 homes burnt in Kaduna’s LGA’
Not less than 33 people were reportedly killed and 215 houses burnt, including four churches in a fresh attack on four communities in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), disclosed this in a statement by its spokesperson, Luka Biniyat on Tuesday.
He said the gunmen stormed Magamiya village, Monday night and started shooting and maiming, living two people dead, including a 70-year-old man described as Toma Tauna.
The assailants, according to the statement, proceeded to attack two villages of Matyei and Abuyab Tuesday morning, killing eight persons in Matyei alone in a violence that lasted for an hour.
The statement added that the same armed men attacked Makarau and Kachechere communities, killing 10 people and burnt 12 houses.
“Therefore, in the past 6 days, at least 33 Atyap natives of Zangon Kataf Area were massacred, 4 churches and 215 homes burnt by assailants always identified as armed herdsmen in a genocidal campaign that has been become very intensive since 2016.” the statement said.
